Anna Bartolo

Anna is a highly regarded and experienced professional negligence and insurance barrister. She is briefed in both large-scale and small-scale matters for plaintiffs and defendants.

As an insurance law specialist, Anna regularly acts for and advises insurers in respect of policy coverage disputes and litigation brought against insureds. This includes maintaining a broad commercial practice, regularly acting in claims against medical practitioners, solicitors, construction professionals and those in the financial services industry, including corporations.

Anna’s practice also includes personal injury litigation, including public liability, work injury damages, intentional torts and historical sexual abuse claims.

Anna regularly appears in trials and interlocutory proceedings, both led and unled in the New South Wales District and Supreme Courts, the Federal Court of Australia, Full Federal Court and select tribunals. She is praised by her clients for her ability to efficiently navigate and provide clear and concise legal advice on complex legal issues, in a friendly and approachable manner.

Prior to being called to the Bar in 2025, Anna practised law for approximately 15 years in Brisbane, London and Sydney, predominantly as a Solicitor (Senior Associate), but also as a Manager/Senior In-house Legal Counsel at IAG. Whilst a solicitor, she acted in and instructed counsel in various class actions proceedings, including shareholder claims, financial services, product liability and consumer claims. She otherwise has a particular interest in royal commissions, inquiries and coronial inquests.

Anna holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) from the Queensland University of Technology.
